Helping Caymanians rejoin the workforce
With unemployment recently on the rise, many Caymanians are finding it hard to get secure, full time work. In association with the National Workforce Development Agency and the Employment Ministry, Baraud developed ReStart, a joint initiative aimed at getting unemployed Caymanians back into rewarding careers with reputable employers.
Success to date
22 Caymanian candidates participated in the first ReStart 13 week programme. 17 candidates not only completed the programme but were offered permanent full-time employment, with some of Cayman’s top organisations. That’s a remarkable 77% success rate.
A large cross-section of the industries participated across the island including legal, retail, medical, telecommunications, security, construction, and fund administration
A variety of speakers to build skills
Baraud’s expert consultants, in tandem with a variety of local experts, helped to provide a broad training programme for the initial pilot programme. The topics covered in these initial sessions included:
- Needs assessment
- Resume and cover letter writing
- Communication and confidence
- Social media and networking in the workplace
- Interview techniques
- Workplace etiquette
These sessions helped not only to prepare candidates for the hard skills they need to know for their particular job, but the soft skills necessary to navigate any modern workplace.
Find out if you qualify
To be considered for ReStart you must be a Caymanian (or have Caymanian Status), a Permanent Resident with the Right to Work, or a spouse of a Caymanian’ and be registered as a job-seeker with the National Workforce Development Agency. You’ll also need to undergo a preliminary interview with the Baraud ReStart team who will determine your suitability for the programme.
