About our client:

Our client, based in Central George Town, is one of the leading law firms in the Cayman Islands with an excellent reputation both as a service provider and an employer.

The Opportunity:

This is one of several new roles to support the expansion of our client’s business, working closely with one of the new lawyers who has recently joined the firm.

Responsibilities:

To provide general secretarial support to the Lawyer including (without limitation)

  1. To prepare first drafts of documents including (without limitation) initial and amended and restated memorandum and articles of association; board minutes and directors resolutions; shareholder resolutions; powers of attorney; structured finance transaction documentation (including declarations of trust and corporate services agreements); mutual fund documentation (including Forms MF1 and MF2 etc.); legal opinions; share certificates; entries for registers of mortgages and charges.
  2. To prepare closing bibles and arrange for these to be produced on CD-Rom (as necessary).
  3. To make all necessary filings with all internal and external bodies in relation to, inter alia, special resolutions, ordinary resolutions, amended and restated memorandum and articles of association, changes of directors and officers.
  4. To implement and maintain the Lawyer's billing and collections system, including drafting invoice narratives.
  5. To maintain accurate records and correspondence files in relation to the Lawyer's client files.
  6. To liase with clients as appropriate and in accordance with Lawyer's instructions and firm policies.
  7. To be familiar with, and comply with, Firm policies relevant to the purpose of the job.
  8. To participate in special projects as and when required in relation to the Firm's and the Lawyer's practice areas.

Requirements:

Candidates will need to demonstrate a high level of effectiveness in each of the following skills and abilities:

  • Copy and audio typing speeds of at least 70 wpm with an accuracy of 98%
  • Work independently and as a team member
  • Tact and diplomacy to deal with confidential matters
  • Manage a complex and demanding workload and prioritise tasks and projects to meet work standards and personal performance targets
  • Communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, with people at all levels of understanding. This will include high quality correspondence
  • Use and update computerised systems, including the intranet, databases, word processors, and spreadsheets, and genuine interest in developing IT skills
  • Participate in continuously improving services through critically evaluating systems of work, promoting new ideas and actively developing service improvements; and
  • Work in a flexible manner and respond to changing circumstances and emergency situations
  • Ability and willingness to occasionally work outside normal working hours/days when requested.
