COURSE CONTENT

 

 

 

One day

Keyboard familiarity.  Must have attended Introduction to Windows XP or have a proficient working knowledge at that level.  A basic knowledge of the mouse would be beneficial.

At the end of this course delegates will be able to use and apply introductory features of Word XP.

 

Keyboard Shortcuts

Introduction to Word 2003

Geography of the Screen

  • Title Bar, Menu Bar
  • Tool Bars - Standard and Format Toolbars.
  • Tool tips.  Window Sizing Buttons - Minimise, Maximise, Restore.  Ruler, Scroll Bars, Status Bar, View Icons

Create A New Document      

  • Introduce File New Dialogue Box
  • Naming Conventions & Standards for Word Basic Properties
  • Explain Ruler, Status Bar, Non-print characters
  • Basic Word-processing Concepts & Entering Text
  • Save a Document & Print via Toolbar

Retrieve An Existing Document

  • Open and Close a Document
  • Explain Directory Structure
  • Print Preview and Print Dialogue Box

View a Document

  • Normal View, Page Layout, Full Screen, Zoom & View Icons

Edit a Document

  • Scroll within a Document using the Keyboard and Mouse
  • Go To Command
  • Edit (Insert Text, Backspace, Delete, Undo/Redo) Insert/Typeover Mode
  • Use Save As
    Pagination - System and Hard Page Breaks

Select Text for Format

  • Select Word, Line, Sentence, Paragraph, Complete Document

Character Format

  • Character Format using the Format Toolbar/Format Menu
  • Clear Character Format
  • Case Change, Format Painter and Insert Symbol

Paragraph Format

  • Change Paragraph Format using the Format Toolbar
  • Changes Made from Format/Paragraph
